A foray does not have to be a grand expedition.
It can be a brief venture into somewhere unfamiliar, an experiment with something new, or simply a small excursion beyond our usual territory.
There is something rather appealing about that.
We can become so accustomed to our familiar routes that we forget how little it sometimes takes to step outside them.
Try the unfamiliar café.
Take a different route home.
Pick up a book from a section you never visit.
Learn the first few words of another language.
Say yes to something simply because you have never tried it before.
A foray does not require commitment. That may be part of its charm.
We are not announcing a new career. We are not reinventing ourselves. We are simply poking our noses beyond the familiar to see what is there.
Perhaps that is enough adventure for today.
Something small.
Something new.
Something that leaves us thinking, Well, that was interesting.
